Reform in the name of first aid training
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Kela, Traficom, Tukes, the Finnish National Board of Education and other authorities will clarify the terms used in first aid training. In the future, first aid courses will be referred to as Emergency First Aid Course, Basic First Aid Course, First Aid Refresher course and Advanced First Aid Course instead of combinations of letters.The names of Uskalla Auttaa first aid courses have been changed to reflect the new guidance from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Basic First Aid course
In the Basic First Aid course (16h), you will learn not only how to recognise and perform first aid in emergency situations, but also in the most common cases of accidents and illnesses.

Advanced first aid course
The Advanced First Aid course (16h) is our most comprehensive first aid course and requires you to have completed the Basic First Aid course.
Course content:

- Basic CPR; adult, child and baby

Emergency first aid course
The Emergency First Aid course will equip the participant to deal with situations requiring emergency first aid. For health and safety purposes, the Emergency First Aid course is sufficient first aid training in most workplaces.

Children's First Aid and Emergencies
First aid course for nurseries, schools, sports clubs, parents and all those who work with children.
Children's First Aid and Emergencies course will teach you how to recognise and manage to perform first aid for emergencies in children and babies, as well as for the most common illnesses, injuries, accidents and poisonings.

First Aid Refresher course
First Aid Refresher course is only offered as an online course, as the refresher course in the on-site courses is an emergency first aid course (the instructor will check the valid Basic First Aid course qualification). The content of the Basic First Aid refresher course consists of the content of the emergency first aid courses, but in addition to this, the trainee must have a previously completed and valid Basic First Aid course qualification.

What does a first aid course involve?

In an Emergency First Aid Course, you learn how to respond to emergency situations. In a Basic First Aid Course, you learn not only emergency first aid but also how to respond to common accident and illness situations. Meanwhile, in a Children's First Aid and Emergencies course, you learn how to respond to various first aid situations involving children.
The durations of various first aid courses vary, and therefore, the study experience itself is different. The most important aspect is to learn how to recognize situations that require first aid and understand how to respond to them. Practical training aids in applying this knowledge in real-life situations. All courses include theoretical studies to provide the necessary knowledge for responding to various first aid situations and to initiate self-directed practical training. Depending on the length and content of the course, there may be different practical exercises involved.
